What is someone with a disability capable of?
Devon Adelman, 18, a volunteer at the Seattle Aquarium, joins others to clean up the waterfront along Myrtle Edwards Park Thursday, July 15, 2015. Adelman has Down syndrome, but has represented her family and Seattle in a variety of different events related to inclusivity. She is going to the White House for Michelle Obama’s “Reach Higher” inclusivity event. She is also studying marine biology at Highline Community College in Des Moines, and volunteers at the aquarium. Sea species, especially the octopus, are one of her main interests.
There are barriers to break down and understanding/bridges to build.
