Exercise, Yoga & Empowerment!
What a great way to start the day!
Our Blind/Visually-Impaired (BVI) skills training program starts each day in this way, getting the kids up and moving. Movement and exercise are sorely lacking in their day-to-day living environment so we are hoping to start some habits that will last a lifetime!
Ms. Sristi KC, head of the organization – ‘Blind Rocks’, is the team lead for all of our exercise and empowerment activities (She is the one with the makeshift red plastic megaphone). Sristi lost sight at the age of 16 and works tirelessly to empower, engage and motivate the BVI. She is a rare gem and we are so fortunate to be associated with her.
You’ll also see many ‘Rotaractors’ from the Rotaract Club of Dhulikhel who have given up 7 days of their lives to be here with us, providing invaluable assistance, without which we would not have been able to run the program….thank you all!!!
After breakfast, our morning starts with exercise and yoga led by Sristi. Many of the exercise and stretching movements are totally new concepts for our BVI participants so the volunteers are needed to help get them moving in the proper direction. After a little help, the BVI students catch on very quickly!
