The day we left for Pokhara we visited a Residence called DHC, which houses around 15 students with varying physical disabilities. It is headed by Amrit who guides and shepherds them through the many challenges in their education and personal growth. Most of these children live far away from home and only see their families during the festival season.
It is a happy home where academics come first and sports next then their skills training to be independent. Their students top the national SLC exams and they are supported by the community. These kids have high ambitions and the positive and supportive environment is a model for other children’s residences.
TRIFC has adopted this organization when Jackie Garces joined TRIFC as Board Member two years ago. She has helped raise thousands of dollars to support DHC. Since then, we have come to know and love these kids as part of the TRIFC family!
